Taiwan official airs cross-strait supply chain idea, paper says

The industrial cooperation arm of the Cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Committee should look into the feasibility of establishing cross-strait industrial supply chain bases, Want Daily reported Thursday, quoting Kao Koong-liang {高孔廉}, vice chairman of Taiwan’s Straits Exchange Foundation. Kao said existing exchange bases are examples of cooperation to follow. He said a supply chain alliance could help both sides build long-term cooperative ties and spur investment and research upgrades. A good example will be car manufacturing, in which the mainland has the edge in scale while Taiwan has expertise in component production, the report quoted Kao as saying.
