NZ, China to form joint food safety commission, Xinhua says

Regulators in China and New Zealand have signed an agreement to set up a joint food safety commission and meet annually to better understand how each other’s food safety systems operate, Xinhua reported Friday. The Food Safety Cooperation Arrangement between New Zealand’s Ministry for Primary Industries and the China Food and Drug Administration was signed in Wellington Friday. The agreement comes in a year in which New Zealand food exports to China have been hammered by export certification bungles and dairy contamination scares, the report said.
