The People’s Bank of China set the renminbi’s daily midpoint at 6.1452 per US dollar on Friday, the softest since Oct. 11 and 27 pips weaker than the 6.1425 fixing on Thursday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. The renminbi is allowed to rise or fall 1 percent from the daily reference rate. In Shanghai, the spot renminbi edged down 0.01 percent to settle at 6.0945 per US dollar on Thursday, after trading between 6.0913 and 6.0950. The redback has risen 2.28 percent this year based on central bank fixings.
