Beijing on alert after Tiananmen terror attack

Beijing party chief Guo Jinlong has called for tighter security in the Chinese capital against terrorist attacks after a car crash in Tiananmen Square killed five people and injured 40, China Daily reported Sunday. Guo asked police and security forces to look for vulnerabilities in the city’s security arrangements and learn from the suspected terror attack. He called for faster response and increased public awareness of such emergencies, the report said.
