Dozens of carmakers under review for possible exit, paper says

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has published a list of 48 carmakers that will be reviewed under the government’s consolidation program, China News Service reported Sunday, citing unnamed sources. Those that fail to meet the standards will be closed. The list includes Lanzhou Yutong and Jilin Tongtien and other obscure players, the report said. China has more than 1,300 makers of various motor vehicles, some of them idle, government data shows.
