Xi stresses need to improve people’s livelihood, paper says

President Xi Jinping {習近平} said Saturday that China’s door to the world will not close and that the nation’s reform will not stop, Beijing News reported Sunday. Xi made the remarks as he met foreign delegates attending the 21st Century Council forum in Beijing, the paper said. Xi noted that China has achieved outstanding results, but remained the world’s biggest developing country. The country’s top priority remains development and improving people’s livelihood, the leader said. At the upcoming third plenary session of the Communist Party’s central committee, a comprehensive approach will be outlined to deepen reform, Xi was quoted as saying.
