China carbon emissions seen peaking in 2025, Yicai says

China’s carbon dioxide emissions could peak in 2025 at about 8.56 billion metric tons, news portal Yicai.com reported late Monday, citing projections from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The government has targeted to cut the level of emissions per unit of gross domestic product (GDP) by 40 to 45 percent by 2020 from the level seen in 2005, it noted.
