Li pushes reform to boost modern agriculture, paper says

Premier Li Keqiang has called for the reform of the agriculture sector to ensure the well-being of farmers and improve their livelihood, China Daily reported on Tuesday, citing the leader’s remarks during a visit to Fuyuan county in Heilongjiang province. The reform should respect the farmers’ ability and willingness to adopt innovation to improve the sector, Li was quoted as saying. In Fuyuan, Li inspected corn fields and a farm machinery center and talked with tractor drivers, the report said, adding that he also encouraged them to strive to increase production.
