Ex-CBRC chief calls for cross-strait financing ties, Xinhua says

Financial institutions in mainland China and Taiwan should work together to finance large projects, the official Xinhua news agency reported Tuesday, citing Liu Mingkang {劉明康}, former head of the China Banking Regulatory Commission. Demand is growing for large-scale financing for long-term projects on both sides of the strait and in the Asia-Pacific region, Liu was quoted as saying during a cross-strait business conference in the mainland city of Nanjing. Financial institutions can cooperate on a wide range of areas, notably risk management, currency swaps and asset securitization, the report said.
