Three regions eyed for carbon credit trading, Xinhua says

Carbon credit trading could start actual operation in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong by the end of the year, the official Xinhua news agency reported Tuesday, citing Jie Zhenhua, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission. A trial scheme on carbon credit trading was launched on June 18 at the Shenzhen Emissions Exchange. At present, carbon emission credit is trading at around 80 yuan (US$13.19) per ton, and transactions have surpassed 110,000 tons for about 7 million yuan, the report said.
