Consumption tax reform to spur local investment, website says

The central government will turn over collection of consumption tax to local governments under a reorganization plan backed by the State Administration of Taxation, information provider Aastocks.com reported Thursday, citing unnamed sources. The reform allows consumers to pay consumption tax directly to local tax authorities, the report said. The move is expected to spur investment by local governments in the public consumption sector.
