Hundreds of smuggling cases uncovered, website says

Chinese authorities have uncovered 700 smuggling cases worth a combined 13.2 billion yuan (US$2.17 billion) during July to October, news portal legaldaily.com.cn reported Thursday, citing government sources. The cases involved 2.8 billion yuan of unpaid taxes by 368 export firms, customs brokers andillegal banks, the report said.
