China’s third auction of exploration rights for shale gas blocks will start soon, the Shanghai Securities News reported Friday, citing a source close to the Ministry of Land and Resources. Most of the blocks are located in Sichuan, Hubei and Chongqing, according to the newspaper. The country’s top three oil giants China National Petroleum Corp., Sinopec Group and CNOOC Group will join in the bidding. Other bidders include Yanchang Petroleum Group, Huadian Group and Guodian Group, the report said. Results are expected to be released in January at the earliest.
