A joint venture between Gottex Fund Management and VStone Asset Management is likely to open the floodgates for a huge capital inflow into upcoming mainland hedge fund managers, the South China Morning Post reported Monday. VStone president Chen Jiwu said the venture would manage assets worth several hundred million US dollars. Sources said several other big global names, including Man Group, were also seeking opportunities to partner with domestic players to explore the share market, the report said. Mainland stocks are still off-limits for foreign investors but they are allowed to buy under the qualified foreign institutional investor scheme if they obtain a quota from the foreign-exchange regulator.
