Thailand now China’s No. 2 tourist destination, report says

The number of Chinese visitors to Thailand more than doubled in the first nine months compared with the same time last year, making it the second-biggest tourist destination for Chinese, Xinhua reported Sunday, citing tourism authorities. More than 3.24 million journeys were made from China to Thailand in the period, up 107.7 percent year on year and analysts expect the figure to surpass 4 million by the end of this year. Chinese tourists are choosing Thailand because of its low prices, proximity to China, easy visa procedure and range of airline choices, the report quoted Guo Dongjie, vice president of Ctrip, China’s biggest online tour operator, as saying.
