China, Japan FMs shake hands at ASEM, Kyodo says

Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida shook hands and had a brief exchange Monday at the Asia–Europe Meeting on the outskirts of New Delhi, Kyodo news agency reported Monday. It was the first handshake between the two countries’ foreign ministers since Shinzo Abe took the helm in Japan just under a year ago. Some analysts saw Kishida’s move as a gesture to improve ties damaged by a territorial row, the report said.
