China may see iron oxide overcapacity in 2014, paper says

Iron oxide output in China is expected to reach 900,000 metric tons per year in 2014, leading to potential overcapacity in the sector, the China Securities Journal reported Wednesday, citing unnamed sources. China presently produces about 40 percent of the iron oxide in the world while its consumption accounts for about 30 percent. Global demand for iron oxide may stabilize at 700,000 to 750,000 metric tons annually in the coming years, the report said.
