Cross-strait tax pact ‘needs islandwide consensus’, website says

Taiwan’s Finance Minister Chang Sheng-ford told legislators that the planned cross-strait taxation agreement will not be signed until consensus on the island as a whole has been reached, ETToday.com reported Tuesday. Chang said talks were under way and both sides have reached consensus on most draft clauses. In particular, he said Beijing and Taipei had agreed that information exchanges will not involve backtracing, and that the data will not be used for non-tax purposes, the report added.
