Govt set to change one-child policy soon, report says

The government is set to announce changes to the one-child policy that would allow families to have a second child if either parent has no siblings, news website Caixin.com reported Tuesday, citing an unnamed official. The revised policy, which is expected to be announced soon after the four-day plenary session of the Communist Party’s central committee that ended Tuesday, will mark a significant adjustment for the country’s population and birth policy. Some experts said the change is more of symbolic significance as it will not affect population growth too much, the report said.
