Taiwan leasing firms eye branches in Shanghai FTZ, paper says

Several leading Taiwanese leasing firms are considering setting up branches in the Shanghai free trade zone, which lists the sector among those that will be granted tax and other privileges, Economic Daily News reported Wednesday, without citing any source. The firms are still in the early stage of evaluating the planned investment as details of the financial opening in the pilot area, including registered capital and other requirements, have yet to be finalized, according to the newspaper. Taiwan’s leasing firms hope to acquire a license to launch a combination of financial and trade leasing operations as well as set up factories inside the zone, the report said.
