Ministry raises entry barriers for shipbuilders, paper says

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has tightened requirements for firms entering the shipbuilding industry in a bid to eradicate overcapacity and promote sustainable development in the sector, the China Securities Journal reported Thursday. According to Yang Jianing, a researcher with the China Shipbuilding Industry Research Center, the new requirements will help accelerate mergers and acquisitions, with flagship companies benefiting most, the report said.
