New solar power capacity to reach 11.8 GW in 2014, paper says

Solar power stations will add a combined 11.8 gigawatts of capacity next year, with 7.6 GW coming from distributed solar power systems, China Securities Journal reported Friday, citing data from the National Energy Administration. For 2014, the ratio of new capacity from distributed solar power systems compared with that from solar power stations in Jiangsu province is 12, while the ratio in the provinces of Shandong, Zhejiang and Guangdong is 10. An expert said higher power tariff in the coastal provinces is the reason for them to build larger scale of distributed solar power systems, the report said.
