Baidu faces 18.2 mln yuan copyright violation case, Xinhua says

Beijing Baidu Netcom Science and Technology Co. Ltd., which runs the Baidu Wenku document-sharing website of Chinese search giant Baidu Inc., has been charged with infringing on the copyright of three book titles published by China Youth Publishing Group and asked to pay 18.19 million yuan (US$2.99 million) in damages, the official Xinhua news agency reported on Sunday. It was the first lawsuit against Baidu Wenku, the report said. The company said it has removed the files from its website.
