Competition needed to lower solar cost, paper says

New types of energy will become major energy sources in the future and market competition will make them more affordable, Securities Times reported Sunday, citing Zhang Guobao, director of the Expert Advisory Committee of the National Energy Administration. Lower prices resulting from competition are the reason many wind power producers have entered the global market, Zhang was quoted as saying. Market competition, rather than unified pricing, will make solar energy cheaper, the report said.
