China plans consumer goods safety law, paper says

China is considering a consumer goods safety law to improve consumer rights protection, China Daily reported Monday, citing the country’s quality watchdog. The draft law will be submitted to the State Council by the end of 2015 and will be included in the cabinet’s legislative work, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said. The proposed measure is aimed at intensifying the institutional supervision of consumer goods safety, reducing and preventing consumer goods safety accidents, and safeguarding consumer rights and interests, Mei Kebao, the watchdog’s deputy head, was quoted as saying.
