Taiwan worried about likely impact of China-Korea FTA, CNA says

Taiwan firms operating in China may suffer if a planned free trade agreement (FTA) between China and South Korea takes effect before the cross-strait agreement on service and goods trade comes into effect, Central News Agency reported Monday, citing Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs. Chang Chun-fu, director-general of the ministry’s Bureau of Foreign Trade, was quoted as saying that he hopes the island’s parliament can approve the cross-strait service trade agreement as soon as possible to avoid potential damage to Taiwanese businesses. China and South Korea began second-phase negotiations on an FTA Monday, the report noted.
