EU cuts trade deficit with China, Xinhua says

The European Union narrowed its trade deficit with China to 62 billion euros (US$83.93 billion) in the first half from 68 billion euros in the same period last year, the official Xinhua news agency reported Tuesday, citing figures from the European statistics agency Eurostat. The Netherlands posted the largest trade deficit at 20.9 billion euros while Germany had the biggest surplus at 4.7 billion euros. German exports to China accounted for 45 percent of the total by the EU and imports made up 21 percent, both topping other countries in the bloc, the report said.
