Nokia workers in Dongguan strike over severance pay, Sohu says

More than a hundred workers at a Nokia Corp. plant in Dongguan, Guangdong province went on strike Tuesday, protesting the “unfair compensation” they got from the telecommunication giant after it sold its cellphone making business to Microsoft Corp. in September, news portal Sohu.com reported Wednesday, citing a worker’s microblog. Operation at the plant has not been affected, and management is holding talks with the workers, an unnamed public relations officer was quoted as saying. Some 32,000 Nokia employees will join Microsoft after the transaction is completed early next year, the report said.
