Shanghai Int’l Energy Exchange to open Friday, paper says

Shanghai International Energy Exchange will open on Nov. 22, paying way for the launch of crude oil futures, Shanghai Securities News reported Wednesday, citing unnamed sources. The exchange, a wholly-owned unit of the Shanghai Futures Exchange and registered in the Waigaoqiao bonded area, will build itself as an international trading platform for major energy products, the report said. Private refiners surveyed recently have said that they hope that crude oil futures could be launched at the exchange in the first or second quarter next year, it said.
