Instant noodles pass heavy metals tests, Xinhua says

China’s food safety watchdog said on Wednesday that latest checks on instant noodle products available in the country have shown that heavy metal content in those products did not surpass allowed levels, Xinhua news agency reported. After some Taiwanese instant noodle firms became embroiled in food safety scandals, authorities launched examinations on 129 packets of seasoning oil and vegetable flavors of 67 instant noodles under the Master Kong and Uni-President, Nongshim, Jinmailang, Wugudaochang, Nissin and Doll brands. The lead, total arsenic and organic arsenic contained in the packets were below 1.0 parts per million (ppm), 0.5 ppm and 0.1 ppm, respectively, as required by food safety standards, according to the China Food and Drug Administration.
