Japan trade deficit with China hits a record in Oct, Kyodo says

Japan’s trade deficit with China in October was at 506.4 billion yen (US$5.06 billion), a record for the month, Kyodo news agency reported Wednesday, citing data released by Japan’s finance ministry. The deficit with China accounted for nearly half of Japan’s overall trade deficit of 1.09 trillion yen for the month, which also marked a record. Japan’s total exports last month were up 18.6 percent from a year earlier, while imports rose 26.1 percent, mainly due to high import amount of crude oil and natural gas, the report said.
