Over 800 firms registered at Shanghai FTZ, Xinhua says

The Shanghai Free Trade Zone is said to have processed over 50,000 corporate and personal enquiries so far, while the number of registered enterprises at the zone has gone up to over 800, Xinhua news agency reported Wednesday, citing Dai Haibo, deputy secretary-general of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and executive deputy director of the FTZ Management Committee. Of the companies already registered in the FTZ, 60 percent are trading firms, while over 30 percent are in the services industry, and only 1-2 percent are financial institutions. Dai added that, of the 23 policies designed to expand the service trade, 12 have been implemented while 7 others are going through approval procedures and expected to be rolled out later this year, the report said.
