Germany’s Voith Group will begin building a facility in Shanghai’s Minhang district to manufacture various kinds of equipment used for high-speed railways and other industries, Xinhua news agency reported Wednesday, quoting chief executive Hubert Lienhard. The production base will be at a 80,000-square meter site that the group bought in the district a few years ago. It is expected to begin operations by the middle of next year. The group said last year that it plans to invest 400 million euro (US$537.46 million) in China over the next five years for business expansion, the report noted.
