Xi urges talks on Sino-EU investment deal, paper says

President Xi Jinping {習近平} said China and the European Union should strengthen cooperation in trade and investment as well as push forward negotiations on an investment agreement, Securities Times reported Wednesday. In a meeting with European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, Xi said China is against all kinds of protectionism and is striving to develop an open global economy. A bilateral investment agreement will be the first for the EU with a foreign country, the report said.
