China has set a target to achieve 18 trillion yuan (US$2.9 trillion) worth of e-commerce transactions by 2015, the Hong Kong Economic Journal reported Friday, citing an announcement from the Chinese commerce ministry. Imports and exports via e-commerce are expected to account for over 10 percent of the country’s total trade, and online retail sales will take up more than 10 percent of the total retail sales by then, according to the plan. The ministry will roll out new policies to promote healthy development of e-commerce in the coming years, the report said.
