Li urges EU to ease curbs on Chinese hi-tech products, CNS says

Premier Li Keqiang {李克強} said China encourages domestic companies to expand into European markets, China News Service reported Thursday. In a meeting with European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, Li said China will work with the EU to explore promising new areas for development, promote trade and investment and fight protectionism. At the same time, he called on the EU to ease restrictions on Chinese high-tech products, the report said. Meanwhile, Li announced the start of Sino-Europe talks on an investment agreement and a study into free trade zones to boost bilateral trade to US$1 trillion by 2020, news website Caijing.com reported.
