China completes plans to open up border areas, paper says

China has completed plans to facilitate the opening-up of border and inland areas, the China Securities Journal reported Monday, citing unnamed sources. The so-called Silk Road economic belt aims to build Urumqi, Yining and Lanzhou into trade centers connecting West, South and Central Asia markets, the report said. Also, three economic lines will be set up to strengthen energy links with Russia and Inner Mongolia in the north, Kazakhstan in the central regions as well as South and West Asia countries in the south, it said.
