High-speed rail link to open in N China, Xinhua says

A new high-speed rail line between the cities of Tianjin and Qinhuangdao in north China will begin services on Dec. 1, Xinhua reported Sunday, citing rail authorities. The line covers 287 kilometers and trains will have a top speed of 300 kph during the early stages of operation, the report said. The service will more than halve travel time between the two cities to one hour and 11 minutes.
