A record — and growing — majority of Japanese do not “feel friendly” toward China, Kyodo news agency reported Saturday, citing a Cabinet Office survey of 3,000 people. Of the 61.6 percent of people who responded to the survey, 80.7 percent said they did not feel friendly toward China, up 0.1 point from last year and a record since the survey began in 1978. Territorial disputes and historical issues took their toll on the Japanese affinity for the country’s neighbour, the report said. The share of people who said ties between the two countries are good or better also rose by two points to 6.8 percent, the report said.
