Chinese authorities on Monday issued a regulation to standardize fund management and ban party and government extravagance, a fresh move in the country’s anti-waste campaign, Xinhua news agency reported late Monday. The regulation outlines the proper management of funds for various uses, including official travel, receptions, meetings, official vehicles and buildings, it said. Officials will be prohibited from misusing public funds to travel abroad. Lower-level officials will be required to use public transportation and avoid use of official cars for general purposes. Meanwhile, unnecessary expenditure on extravagant office buildings must be curbed. China’s anti-waste campaign has been gathering steam since last December, when the new leadership pledged to improve party work style to win the trust and support of the people.
