NDRC to delegate approval power on rail fares, paper says

The National Development and Reform Commission is expected to delegate its approval power on rail transportation pricing as part of the reform measures approved during the recent Communist Party plenum, the 21st Century Business Herald reported on Monday, citing an unnamed person with knowledge of the matter. This means that in the future, the China Railway Corp. will no longer seek approval from the commission if it wants to adjust passenger fares and cargo rates as such power may be taken over by the Ministry of Transportation, the railway bureau under the ministry or the railway corporation itself, the report said, adding that no final decision has been made.
