Sinopec staff held after deadly pipeline blast, Bloomberg says

Police detained seven people from China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec) (00386.HK, 600028.CN) after at least 55 were killed in an oil pipeline explosion in eastern China last week, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday. Also detained were two personnel from an economic development zone authority in Qingdao, Shandong province, the city’s Huangdao district government was quoted as saying on its official microblog. Last Friday’s blast in a section of the pipe running under the streets of Qingdao exposed serious problems of human error and a “very serious dereliction of duty”, the official Xinhua news agency reported on Monday, citing Yang Dongliang, head of the team investigating the accident.
