Small states at odds with China on climate pact, agency says

China and India’s success in weakening the last week’s global warming agreement created friction with other developing nations seeking to step up the fight against climate change, Bloomberg reported Monday. Instead of making “commitments” to roll back fossil fuel emissions at a United Nations climate conference, the two countries agreed to “contributions,” giving them more flexibility in action, the report said. It puts the two largest developing nations at odds with their smaller brethren, especially island states and Bangladesh that are the most threatened by rising temperatures, it said.
