China mulls measures to reduce logistics costs, paper says

China is considering new measures to reduce logistics costs, a major contributor to commodity price increases, the Economic Information Daily reported Wednesday, citing officials. Several government agencies, including the commerce and finance ministries, are drafting a package of proposals to promote the development of the logistics industry, including bigger subsidies and reduced taxes. Logistics spending accounts for about 18 percent of the country’s gross domestic product, higher by 6.8 percentage points than the global average, the report said.
