Sinopec, Apache in talks for Canada LNG project, WSJ says

China Petrochemical Corp. or Sinopec Group is in early talks with US-based oil and gas producer Apache Corp. to acquire a minority stake in a liquefied natural gas project on Canada’s Pacific coast, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter. The Kitimat project is one of several LNG projects that Sinopec is looking at in the region, one of the sources were quoted as saying. Although the size and value of the stake has yet to be determined, Apache last year pegged the cost of the project at US$15 billion, the report said.
