NDRC deputy seeks wider cross-strait industry ties, Xinhua says

The mainland and Taiwan should expand the scope of industrial cooperation and make the most of each other’s advantages to achieve complementary benefits, Xinhua reported Thursday, citing National Development and Reform Commission vice director Zhang Xiaoqiang. He told a cross-strait industrial cooperation forum in Kunshan Thursday that industries on both sides face similar problems, including weakened external demand and difficulties in structural adjustment. Zhang said they need to jointly explore opportunities based on the needs of industrial development, suggesting there should be innovative ways to team up and overcome differences in each other’s systems, the report said.
