Development plans launched for resource-based cities, govt says

The State Council, China’s cabinet, launched recently specific development plans for cities that depend heavily on exploration and processing of natural resources, according to a statement posted on the government’s official website Tuesday. Under the plan, authorities marked out 262 resource-based Chinese cities for the first time, and categorized them into four types depending on the condition of the local industry — whether it is growing, mature, declining, or regenerative, the report said. Different development directions and priorities were made for the four types of resource-based cities, it said.
