China may raise subsidy for energy-saving projects, paper says

The central government is expected to raise the subsidy for energy-saving projects to 500 yuan (US$81.57) per ton of coal equivalent from 240 yuan, the China Securities Journal reported Wednesday, citing an unnamed source. The subsidy will go to projects in which energy-saving companies and energy consuming companies will set an energy saving target and the latter will pay the former with earnings from energy saving, the paper said.
