China has rejected tens of thousands of tons of genetically modified corn imports from the United States after finding traces of an insect repellant in them, the official Xinhua news agency reported Wednesday, citing quarantine authorities. The shipments were stopped in Fujian, Shenzhen and Shandong. Chinese officials have warned importers to strictly follow the government’s quality requirements, the report said. In November, China barred similar shipments from the US.
