American retail giant Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is paying for lawyers to represent more than 30 of its executives caught up in a foreign corruption investigation by the US government, Reuters reported on Wednesday. The high number executives involved in the case shows the depth of the probe, it said. The US Justice Department is investigating whether Wal-Mart personnel have bribed Mexican government officials in order to secure permits to open stores there. It is also looking into potential misconduct in the Brazil, China and India markets, the report said. Executives of the company, including several senior management members from the headquarters, have been summoned for questioning, it said.
